Poem for today
The One
After all these years
he turns up
in his new blazer
with the grey piping,
smiling just a little
anxiously, my baby
brother they expected me
to look after. Peter,
wait he calls out.
And shaking, shaken,
I round on him:
I haven't gone.
You're the one
who got drowned
and turned me
into their only child.
